Story Of The Year Discografia

Formada em 1995, em St. Louis, no estado de Missouri, a banda se chamava Big Blue Monkey. A princípio, a sonoridade da banda era mais ‘pesada’, assim como Deftones, uma de suas influências. Depois de lançar um EP homônimo em 2002 pela gravadora independente Criterion Records, a banda finalmente passou a se chamar Story Of The Year, (ou SOTY, como alguns fãs a chamam). O motivo da mudança? Havia uma banda de blues chamada Big Blue Monkey, e Dan (curiosamente) não gostava do antigo nome… Em 2002, a banda se mudou para o sul da California e fez turnê com Goldfinger.

Oito anos depois da formação, em 2003, Story Of The Year finalmente conheceu seu primeiro sucesso comercial com o lançamento do disco ‘Page Avenue’, o qual contém os sucessos ‘Until The Day I Die’ e ‘Anthem Of Our Dying Day’. O segundo disco, ‘In The Wake Of Determination’, lançado em 2005, não teve o mesmo sucesso que o anterior. Em 2007, a banda assina contrato com a gravadora Epitaph Record e, em 22 de abril de 2008, é lançado ‘The Black Swan’, o terceiro de sua carreira.

Mas o que faz a banda diferente de tantas outras? Com certeza é a energia que eles transmitem em seus shows. Nos palcos, a banda é conhecida por seus pulos e seus movimentos malabares, como o giro de 360 graus, chutes, saltos mortais e instrumentos em chamas. Que a verdade seja dita: a presença de palco de Story Of The Year é impecável e invejável.
